About Garden

The Nelson Mandela Garden of 95 Trees is a division of Nelson Mandela Gardens Limited, a private limited liability company. It was founded by Dr Newton Jibunoh (D.Sc, OON) and he is the key promoter of the project. Its objective is to be seen as a conservation center that espouses the virtues of nature, relaxation and comfort to the delight of her guests. It was established to commemorate the 95th birthday of the late African sage and world icon, by planting ninety-five trees in his honour and as support for the conservation of nature and its elements. The project is formally endorsed by the Nelson Mandela Family as part of the continuation of the “Mandela Is” campaign, which is aimed at the improvement of the African Man’s existence.

The Garden sits on 14,414 acres of choice land within the perimeter of the Asaba International Airport in Delta State, Midwest region of Nigeria. Given the non apologetic espousal of the Mandela philosophy by Dr. Newton Jibunoh and its synergy with his own ethos, the Garden is the fourth official monument of such after similar establishments in Washington, London and Johannesburg by the Nelson Mandela Family to actualize the vision of the great icon Madiba.

The Nelson Mandela Garden of 95 Trees also serves as a conservation center close to nature for the general public. It is a place for relaxation and comfort in the ambience of a beautiful and serene environment with well manicured gardens formed in the shape of Africa. Outlines of Nigeria and South Africa are indicated with trees as well.

The Nelson Mandela Gardens is a perfect location for tourism, excursions, conferences, meetings or other special events like weddings, ceremonies, anniversaries, social gatherings, parties,  picnics, etc. We have an entertainment Gazebo where you can purchase food, snacks and drinks while enjoying the scenery of the gardens. We also have an in-house music disc-jockey (DJ) for your musical entertainment. Nonetheless, the Nelson Mandela Gardens is equally a place of quietness where one can read, meditate and feel at home with nature.

In addition, we have world-class facilities which include:

  • A children’s play ground
  • A mini zoo
  • Lawn tennis court
  • Semi-Olympic sized swimming pool.

In the next phase of development (i.e. the third phase) the garden is scheduled to have the following facilities operational:

  • 4-star-80 room hospitality suite (hotel)
  • 1000-seater conference center
  • A retail mall
  • Health club / Fitness center.
