The United Nations has set aside 18 July in honour of Nelson Mandela who spent 67 years of his life fighting the ills of Apartheid in South Africa. People all over the world are enjoined to spend 67 minutes of their time helping others and in spreading the message of “Take action and inspire change”.
On 18 July 2014, a visit was made to the Madonna School for Special Kids Okpanam, Asaba to spend 67 minutes with the children in honour of Nelson Mandela as instituted by the United Nations. The visitation team included the Consul General of South Africa and his team; Dr Jibunoh and members of the Nelson Mandela Garden team; as well as members of staff of Inter-fact, a subsidiary of Sab-Miller Brewery (a South African brand).Several gifts were presented to the school during the visit.
